Heaven Is Something To Keep You Warm
Choreopoem, Black Magic-Realism
Time and time again, Black people find ways to communicate in spaces where they weren't allowed to. We communicate through hair, art, music, dance, food, and even a head nod, a smile at the other Black person in the room. We find a way to speak. This play will follow Haddie as she flashes through lifetimes of Blackness, finding her way to speak, finding her way to freedom.
This is an altar to Ntozake Shange, Virginia Hamilton, Faith Ringgold, the Black women before and after.

This is How You Capture the Light
Drama, Magic-Realism, Memory-work
Big Grandmama is dead. Big Grandmama is dead, and now Silvia's back in this house made up of memories. Memory is like a cord that stretches across time. Maybe it doesn't stretch, more like swells, like a body of water or music. On the other side of that memory is her younger self, Silver, and her Big Grandmama is still alive. The house, like God, holds both sides in the palm of its hand.

A dark, thematic drama about the violence against Black bodies, specifically young Black boys.
To all Black mothers and fathers who wish to see their children grow. This is a prayer. To every Black child, you are precious, and you deserve to live. This is a prayer. This is a prayer for Black folks. A prayer to God and you, you are the witness.
